Elbit Systems KAPTURE CVR/FDR

Brand:Elbit Systems Model:Elbit Systems KAPTURE CVR/FDR

Designed for operators seeking a recording solution that meets all of the latest certifications and requirements for the freedom to fly around the world. KAPTURE Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders include all the features and benefits of Universal's 5th generation CVR/FDR with reduced weights, many improvements, and enhanced capabilities.

Fit to Fly with KAPTURE Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders

Stay fit for flight with extended cockpit voice and flight data recorders to protect your data and meet the mandates. KAPTURE 25-Hour CVR/FDR complies with all the latest TSOs, meets EASA EUROCAE ED-112A requirements, and records data link communications.

Built-In Recorder Independent Power Supply

Universal Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders are built to last, with continued recording for 10 minutes in the event of a power outage. Our patented Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS) is internal to the CVFDR, reducing weight and costs compared to an external LRU or bolt-on device. Fly without the worry of periodic maintenance - RIPS uses a capacitor pack rather than batteries.

Universal KAPTURE - 6th generation CVR/FDR solution

The KAPTURE line of Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders includes five lightweight and compact model options, providing a customized recording solution for your aircraft. Available models include a CVR, FDR, and combination Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR).

Each model features a lithium free 90-day Underwater Locator Beacon (ULB), and the CVR and CVFDR models offer a patented internal Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS) option.

UA’s sixth generation of recorders include all the features and benefits of the company’s previous CVR/FDR product line with reduced weights, plus many improvements and enhanced capabilities.

With increased cockpit voice and ambient audio recording capability of over 25 hours, the CVR and CVFDR models meet EASA’s mandate which requires all aircraft with an MTOW of 59,500 lbs. first issued with an individual Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) on or after January 1, 2021, to be equipped with a 25-hour CVR. Recorded playback is proven to be clear and audible. The CVR and CVFDR models also provide over 25 hours of non-audio recording such as UTC, rotor speed, and data link messaging. The FDR offers over 90 hours of recording ARINC 717 data, and the inclusion of two ARINC 429 ports allows for an additional 25 hours of data and expanded integration capabilities.

The KAPTURE line of CVR/FDR offers the utmost in reliability with high Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and is backed by UA’s world-renowned customer support. The line is designed for operators seeking a recording solution that meets all of the latest certifications and requirements, including MOPS ED-112A compliance, for the freedom to fly around the world.

Flight Archive Ground Maintenance Tool

UA's versatile Flight Archive Ground Maintenance Tool allows for faster data and audio downloads and field-loadable software updates with the KAPTURE CVR/FDR. The PC-based program can also be used to perform several maintenance and testing functions.

The interface uses an Ethernet connection between the CVR/FDR and the PC running the Flight Archive application. Flight Archive's current version runs on Windows 7 or newer (32-bit or 64-bit) operating systems with a 1 GHz CPU and 2 GB RAM.

Paired with improved download speeds from the CVR/FDR itself, and removing the need for a Quick Access Recorder (QAR), operators gain significant savings in time and maintenance costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the typical lead time for gas turbine overhaul services?
The lead time for gas turbine overhaul services ranges from 6 to 14 weeks, depending on the damage assessment, parts availability, and whether hot-section repairs are required. Expedited options may reduce this by 30%.
  • Do you provide customizations for legacy turbine control systems?

Yes, we retrofit legacy systems (e.g., GE Frame 5, Siemens V94.2) with modern digital controllers, typically completing hardware integration within 4-8 weeks. Software migration requires additional validation time.

  • How often should industrial gas turbines undergo performance testing?

We recommend annual performance testing under ISO 3977-2 standards. Critical applications (e.g., offshore platforms) may require semi-annual tests with emissions compliance checks.

  • Are your radiation-hardened (rad-hard) semiconductors compliant with MIL-PRF-38535?

All rad-hard devices (e.g., FPGA, ADC) are QML Class V certified under MIL-PRF-38535 and tested to MIL-STD-883 Method 1019 for SEU tolerance. Full qualification reports are available upon request.

  • What temperature ranges do your military-grade ICs support?

Our ASICs and power management ICs operate across -55°C to +175°C ambient temperatures, with derating curves provided in military temperature range (MTR) datasheets.

  • Are PMA parts interchangeable with OEM components?

Our PMA parts (e.g., actuators, sensors) hold FAA/EASA Form 1 certification and match OEM form/fit/function. Installation requires SB/MB documentation per FAA AC 23.1529.

  • What traceability standards do you follow for aircraft fasteners?

All NAS/MS fasteners include full DNA traceability: melt source (AMS 2301), heat/lot numbers, and AS9100-compliant MTRs with ultrasonic test reports.

  • How do you handle urgent AOG (Aircraft on Ground) requests?

AOG orders ship within 4 hours for stocked items (FAA-PMA, EASA Part 21G). Non-stock critical parts trigger priority manufacturing with 72-hour max turnaround.
